🔥Any work on the injection system may only be carried out on a cold engine 🔥
If the fuel system was not sealed off according to instructions after component removal, the fuel rail must be primed with gasoline before starting the engine.
Do not start the engine with an empty fuel rail.
Assemble the fuel system but do not fully tighten the high-pressure line to the pump; then, switch on the ignition for a few seconds several times to allow gasoline to fill the rail. Air and some gasoline will escape from the loose connection. Afterward, tighten the line to the pump and start the engine.
After checking for leaks, fully bleed the high-pressure system by driving the vehicle for at least 50–100 km. If an error occurs during the bleeding process, turn off the engine and restart it. During the drive, it is advisable to briefly reach engine speeds of 4,000–5,000 rpm.
If a pressure error occurs at idle during vehicle operation, it is recommended to accelerate a few times in second gear, reaching engine speeds in the 4,000–5,000 rpm range.
If the pressure regulator is removed, replacing the small O-ring is recommended. Since gasoline acts as a solvent, remove any gasoline from the regulator housing and lubricate both the regulator and the housing before reassembly. Do not rev the engine to the cut-off limit without load.
Do not disconnect the pressure regulator
(this is permissible only for an emergency drive in the event of pump failure). The pump may require servicing after the engine has run with the regulator disconnected.
* When removing parts, seal all open connections on the rail and the pump.
* For the Opel Zafira, Renault Laguna IDE, and Citroën HPI models, it is essential to check whether the system has a factory-fitted fuel filter; if not, one must be installed.
